Industry Racing, CA, USA - June 3

It was an evening for the experienced and for the rookies as Billy “The Bullet” Hamill and Dillon Ruml each took home a main event victory at Industry Racing.

Ruml lined up on the 20 yard line for the Handicap Main Event with fellow rookie Gage Geist and Rocco Scopellite next to him, Russell Green on the 30 yard line, and Hamill and Aaron Fox starting from the 50. Ruml made the best start of the trio at the front and led through turns one and two. The two-time Junior National Champion led through lap one while Hamill was threading through the field in wholesale fashion. The former World Champion was in second place early in the race and set his sights on the leader. Ruml kept his composure and Hamill was going to have to earn the victory over the 16 year old. Hamill went to the outside on lap five and was right on the leader’s back tire in turn four when he suddenly straightened up and slowed down. A flat rear tire ended his bid for the win. Ruml cruised the final lap for his first main event victory in First Division. Gage Geist was second, Fox finished third, Scopellite was fourth, Green finished fifth, and Hamill was credited with sixth.

The lineup across the tapes for the Scratch Main Event was Scopellite in gate one, “Battling” Buck Blair in gate two, Charlie “The Edge” Venegas in gate three, and Hamill in gate four. Blair and Hamill were off the starting line together but Hamill used the ample outside dirt and squeezed past the Colorado native for the lead as they exited turn two. The battle for the lead ended right there. Hamill, who will be managing the USA National Team in the Speedway World Cup in King Lynn, England on Monday, lengthened his lead with each lap and blazed to victory. Buck Blair settled for second, and Scopellite passed Venegas on the final lap to take third.

Rudy Laurer led all four laps en route to victory in the Second Division Main Event. Joe Donaldson finished second, Nathan Siegel was third, and Bentley Barrett finished fourth.

Northern California’s Lawrence McNutt made an auspicious debut at Industry Racing by winning the Third Division Main Event. Steve “Beach Ball” Brown was second, Kevin “Rip” Fife finished third, and Greg Willis was fourth.

James Blair, nephew of Buck Blair, led the Junior 250 Main Event through turn one but Jake Isaac took the lead as they raced down the back straight. Sebastian Palmese chased down the leader and was ready to pounce on any opening. That opportunity came as they took the white flag when Palmese charged up the inside of Isaac. Palmese led the final lap for the victory, Isaac held on to second, and James Blair was third.

Luke Whitcomb quickly passed the Rachel Schnakenberg and Skylar Schnakenberg to take the early lead in the Mini 150 Main Event. Slater Lightcap weaved through the traffic and overtook Whitcomb as they entered turn one the second time. Lightcap didn’t turn a wheel wrong after that and was first to the checkered flag. Whitcomb held on to second, Skylar Schnakenberg finished third, Keelan Venegas was fourth, Dakota Shockley finished fifth, and Rachel Schnakenberg was sixth.

Travis Horn was victorious in the Pee Wee Main Event for the second week in a row. Levi Leutz finished second, Glenn Geist was third, Conner Salazar finished fourth, Gavin Dryfka was fifth, and Jose Navarrete finished sixth.

Defending National Champions Bryan Motis and Josh Bennett led from start to finish and collected the Sidecar Main Event victory. Joe Jones and Tom Summers were second, Dual Anderson and Vinny Madagan finished third, and James Kinne and Johnny Glover were fourth.
